In my junior year at SCAD, I participated in a Print for Production class that proved pivotal in immersing me in the tangible processes integral to graphic design. The course provided a comprehensive understanding of industry-standard printing techniques. For our final project, we were tasked with creating a brochure and a promotional piece, leading me to craft a travel guide for the historic city of Kyoto, Japan. This intricate guide navigates through three significant stops, delving into the historical and cultural significance of each location. For the promotional piece, I took a unique approach by laser cutting a train pass, not only functional for the tour but also serving as a memorable souvenir once the experience concluded. This project presented a fascinating exploration into the realm of physical printed media, shedding light on how the materiality of design elements can profoundly influence the overall nature and impact of the visual narrative.
